Grand Conclusion of Fire Safety Week at NSL
Jagdalpur , 19th April, 2025:/// As per the directions of Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India, Fire Safety Week was celebrated at NSL from 14th to 19th April, 2025. Shri M. N. V. S. Prabhakar, Executive Director & Head, HMDC Steel Plant, Girwa presided over the grand closing ceremony of Fire Safety Week. Shri B. R. K. Shetty (CGM), Shri Ashok Kumar Mishra (CGM) and other GMs, Heads of Departments and Senior Officers of NSL and a large number of employees gathered to witness the grand closing ceremony.
The purpose of celebrating this week is to propagate fire safety awareness among the employees, their families and the general public. The week long programme included essay and fire control competitions for employees and officers. The families of the employees were also made aware about various fire prevention and control measures through live demonstration at HMDC Township, Pinji. A painting competition was organized to make children aware about fire fighting measures. The closing ceremony was an educative and entertaining event in which the Fire and Safety departments displayed the complete range of equipments, techniques and vehicles in live demonstration. 9 Different types of fire fighting vehicles and their features and specialized uses were demonstrated by lighting a real fire. In order to strive for the best in taking preventive measures against fire, a rolling trophy called ‘Excellence in Fire Prevention’ was instituted

This trophy was won by HSL By-Product Plant. NMDC STEEL LIMITED: Registered Office: NMDC Iron & Steel Plant, Nagarnar, Bastar, Chattisgarh – 494001, India 2 The bravery and skill of the team of trained fire fighters of HSL left everyone stunned. It was also shown practically that what things can cause fire in a steel plant and how to prevent its spread in different situations and what should be the right way to extinguish it in case of an actual fire. The entire programme and especially the rescue operation of people trapped in a fire in a high-rise building mesmerized the gathered audience. Amidst the chants of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’, three streams of water fountains appeared in the form of waves and this interesting exhibition ended with this unique scene.
