NSL turns its back on plastic, vows to adopt eco-friendly alternatives
Jagdalpur, Nagarniyar, June 5, 2025 //// Environment Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at NSL Steel Plant, Nagarniyar and NMDC Upnavi Dhanpunji from May 30 to June 5. Employees and their family members participated in various activities and competitions organized to spread the message of environmental conservation. After taking oath to protect and preserve the environment by Executive Director and Head MNS Prabhakar, Municipal Corporation, NSL Steel Plant on the inaugural day, enthusiastic environment friends participated in a large number of events spread across the country.
These included environment rally, nature walk, environmental exhibition and presentation, painting competition, environment and eco-friendly art and design competition, tree plantation exercise, environment diary, sketch and poetry writing and poster making competition. All the activities were centered on the theme of ‘Eliminating Plastic Pollution at Global Level’. Today, on the occasion of Timeliness Day, participants were selected on the basis of various merits in different categories and were awarded prizes and certificates. Tile Melting Shop becomes winner of the prestigious annual Environment Rolling Trophy
Every year, in the Environment Festival organised to coincide with World Environment Day, each unit of NSL gets an opportunity to compete with other units on some basic environmental issues.
The winning team gets the Rolling Trophy for a year. This year, Steel Melting Shop (SMS) of NSL emerged as the clear winner. Selecting a candidate from all the units was a tough choice for the candidates, as the performance of each unit was different in some way or the other and their overall performance was also similar to each other. Yet, SMS won the title.
