**** Local MSMEs have potential to change image of Bastar, adopt best business practices ***

Jagdalpur, Nagarnar June 15, 2025:/// “MSMEs play a vital role in uplifting the economic and social status of the society. NSL, on its part, is playing a vital role in helping the local MSME industry realise its potential. Together, they can bring a positive change in the business scenario of Bastar. 

The young entrepreneurs of Bastar will be able to realise their potential only if they adopt best business practices like the MSME Competitiveness (Lean) plan,” said Shri M N V S Prabhakar, Executive Director and Head, NSL Steel Plant, at a function held at Hotel Avinash. Shri Prabhakar was the keynote speaker at the event organised to help in the implementation of “Lean” management practices among MSME industries located in the Jagdalpur region. Over 100 developing enterprises were selected to participate in the event. The event was organized by National Productivity Council (NPC) in collaboration with NMDC Steel Limited, Nagarnar (NSL) and Bastar Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Shri Prabhakar called upon the business community to take advantage of the “Lean” scheme launched by the Government and adopt sustainable practices to prosper and provide value to customers. He hoped that they will further improve themselves to provide quality materials and services to NMDC Steel in a structured and professional manner. 

Shri MDS Prabhakar said, “Today’s initiative will go a long way in changing the way business is done in Bastar.” The event was aimed at helping in the implementation of Lean Management practices among MSME industries located in Jagdalpur region. Shri Roshan Kujur, Deputy Director, National Productivity Council (NPC), Bhubaneswar welcomed the delegates to the event and explained the main points of the Lean scheme.

 He mentioned that the program is structured to help MSMEs adopt Lean manufacturing practices, which include reducing waste, optimizing processes and adding value to customers. These factors help MSMEs to improve efficiency, reduce costs and increase productivity. Mr. Shyam Somani, President, Bastar Chamber of Commerce and Industry thanked the organisers for organising this event to acquaint the industries of Bastar with best business practices. He said, “This is the first time that such an important and beneficial partnership has been initiated between NSL and BCC. The entrepreneurs gathered at today’s event will reap most valuable benefits from it.” A short audio-visual on the benefits of LEAN scheme for MSMEs was also shown. This was followed by a Q&A session in which the gathered business community got their doubts cleared by the dignitaries of NSL and NPC.
