BALCO created awareness among youth about health under the 'Arogya' project.
BALCO NAGR, December 2, 2025. Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO), a Vedanta Group company, organized a two-day "Youth Leadership and Development Model Training" as part of its community development project, "Arogya." This program proved to be a significant step towards developing youth into responsible, aware, and active health leaders in the community.
Over 80 youth were introduced to various leadership development concepts during the two-day training. Key topics included self-awareness and personality development, emotional and stress management, effective communication skills, problem-solving and decision-making, HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis prevention, symptom identification, and social stigma elimination. Given the social stigma surrounding diseases like HIV/AIDS and TB, experts emphasized scientific knowledge, safe behavior, early detection, and treatment. Youth were provided with authentic information on sexual health, safe sex, and preventive measures.
Key officials from government health departments, including Dr. Ravikant Singh Rathore (Nodal Officer, HIV/AIDS Program), B.R. Ratre (Nodal Officer, TB Program), and Veena Mistry (ICTC Counselor, District Hospital, Korba), participated in the training program and provided expert guidance. The joint partnership between BALCO, SOROT (NGO partner), and the government health department further strengthened the administration and BALCO's community development support system.
BALCO Chief Executive Officer and Director, Mr. Rajesh Kumar, stated that BALCO believes that informed and empowered youth are the foundation of a healthy community. During the two-day training, the youth learned valuable knowledge related to health, leadership, and responsibility. The support of government departments and our partners further strengthens this initiative. I am confident that these youth will bring about positive change by spreading awareness in their families and communities.
At the end of the training, an impactful street play presented by the participants conveyed safe health behaviors and social messages in simple language, making the learnings easier to implement and disseminate to the community.
This event marks another important step towards BALCO Community Development's mission of holistic health empowerment. At the conclusion of the program, senior government officials and BALCO CSR leadership encouraged the trained youth to promote HIV/AIDS, TB, and health literacy within their communities, peer groups, and families. This will ensure the initiative's effective progress in society, in line with the principle of "One trained youth, ten informed citizens."
