08 January 2026////State-of-the-art training institute to be set up at a cost of ₹35.04 crore; free, employment-oriented training for youth from coalfield regions
In a significant step towards strengthening healthcare services and promoting employment-oriented skill development in Chhattisgarh’s coal belt, South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sri Sathya Sai Health & Education Trust on 07 January 2026. Under this partnership, a modern Healthcare Skill Development Centre will be established in Nava Raipur, Chhattisgarh, at a total cost of ₹35.04 crore. The project will be implemented under SECL’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.
The institute will provide free, employment-oriented healthcare training to socio-economically disadvantaged youth. Training programmes will include Nursing Assistants, Medical Technicians, and other allied healthcare disciplines. The initiative aims to enhance employability among local youth while simultaneously strengthening healthcare delivery in rural and coal-affected regions.
The proposed campus will include academic buildings, hostels, staff residences, and other essential infrastructure. Candidates from SECL’s operational districts will be given priority. For the next 25 years, at least 20 percent of the annual intake will be reserved for aspirants from these districts, with scope for enhancement based on performance outcomes.
The MoU was signed in the presence of SECL Director (Human Resources) Shri Biranchi Das. The agreement was executed by Shri C.M. Verma, General Manager (CSR), SECL, and Shri Vivek Narayan Gaur, Trustee, Sri Sathya Sai Health & Education Trust.
SECL and the Sri Sathya Sai Trust are already collaborating under the “SECL Ki Dhadkan” healthcare initiative, which provides free surgeries for children suffering from congenital heart diseases (CHD). Under this programme, more than 180 life-saving surgeries have been successfully conducted so far, bringing relief to numerous families in coalfield areas.
It is noteworthy that SECL has spent over ₹850 crore under CSR initiatives in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, covering healthcare, education, skill development, infrastructure, and community welfare. This new initiative further reinforces SECL’s commitment to inclusive development, human capital creation, and sustainable social progress in Chhattisgarh.
